Canada is set to reopen its borders to residents of the United States on August 9th, and while there is always concern about virus importation, officials in this province are encouraged by what they have seen so far.

Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Janice Fitzgerald points to the trends they have seen from Americans who have been allowed to enter the province through exemptions.
She says the “vast majority” of travellers from the US that they have seen have been fully vaccinated. They expect that trend to continue, which Dr. Fitzgerald says is reassuring.
She reminds that testing is available for all travellers who develop symptoms, noting that they will be keeping a close eye on the situation.
