Choices for Youth has received $12 million from the federal government to help hundreds of youth develop skills needed to get and keep good jobs.
Executive director Sheldon Pollett says the organization will be focusing on a broad range of initiatives with the funding.
He says for most of their clients it begins with a good resume and basic skills, while for others it’s also about bigger life decisions.
Pollett says issues such as mental health and addictions can be big obstacles for young people trying to find and keep a job.
The federal money is distributed through Ottawa’s Youth Employment and Skills Strategy.
