The eastern half of the island was blasted with thundershowers yesterday and early this morning.
The storm started in central yesterday afternoon before rolling to the northeast and east of the island.
The northern Avalon and the Clarenville/Bonavista area saw around 15 to 30 mm of rain, while the highest locally was 40 mm in St. John’s West.

It’s the second thunderstorm in the area in the month of August, however, Meteorologist with the Gander Weather Office, Brenden Sawchuk, says it doesn’t look like another is on its way, at least in the short term.
On the Hurricane Henri front, Sawchuk says we should be safe.
He says while we may see remnants, it’s expected to die out before it hits the island.
