The Association of Psychology of Newfoundland and Labrador is offering free, one-time, one-on-one sessions to help people with a fear of needles.
Efforts are underway to increase COVID vaccination rates in the province, and Dr. Janine Hubbard says they wanted to do all they could to ensure that the few who have put the vaccine off because of their fear of needles get out and get their shots.
Hubbard says a number of local psychologists have volunteered their services to help those with a fear of needles.
She says about one-third of kids have “fairly significant” needle fears.
What they suspect is that there may still be a few people out there who have delayed getting their vaccine because of their fears, and they’re offering free one-time sessions to help with that.
