A group which was opposed to a massive industrial development in the Long Pond area is expressing dismay with what it calls “offensive” closing remarks from outgoing mayor Terry French at the last CBS council meeting before the municipal election.
The Advocates for the Responsible Development of Long Pond was formed by CBS residents frustrated with how the town council and staff were handling their concerns over the proposed OCI development in Long Pond.
Spokesperson Andrea Canning says Mayor French’s closing remarks painted their group, which was made up of concerned citizens, as villains.
She says French’s comments compared them to certain lobby groups in the US, which she suggests couldn’t be further from the truth.
