A cat is heading back to St. John’s after making an amazing journey to Canada’s far north.
The grey and white cat somehow stowed away on a ship in St. John’s Harbour and wasn’t discovered until the vessel was out to sea and on the way to Iqaluit.
Janelle Kennedy, the shelter manager at the Iqaluit Humane Society, provided crew on board the ship with a few items to help the frightened feline get comfortable for the long round-journey home.
The first challenge says Kennedy was coaxing kitty out of his hiding spot.
She provided the crew with a cage, food and litter and a little advice on how to get the cat out. She suggested making a trail of tuna juice from the hiding spot to the cage. It worked like a charm.
The cat, which has been given the name “Journey” by the crew, is on his way back home and with any luck, will be reunited with his owners.
