The federal and provincial governments have revealed the successful recipients of a total of $1.5 million from the Provincial Housing and Homelessness Partnership Fund (PHHPF).
They include the Salvation Army Center of Hope, Stella’s Circle, City of St. John’s and the Town of Happy Valley-Goose Bay, which each received $250,000.
Anglican Homes Inc. and the Central Residential Services Board each received $200,000 while the Qalipu Mi’kmaq First Nation Band avails of $63,000.
The federal-provincial fund is designed to support projects throughout the province which leverage partnerships and strengthen capacity of the community housing sector to provide housing options for low-income households.
The money is earmarked for vulnerable populations, including women and children fleeing domestic violence, Indigenous peoples, seniors, young adults, persons with disabilities, people experiencing mental health and addictions issues, and persons experiencing or at imminent risk of homelessness.
