The Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Newfoundland and Labrador have a new commanding officer. Assistant Commissioner Jennifer Ebert assumed the duties this week.
Ebert says she appreciates the warm reception she and her family have received and hopes to bring the experience she’s had all over Canada over the course of her 25-year policing career into the new job.
She previously served as the commanding officer for PEI, and says her role is to ensure high-quality policing services in the province.
Ebert says RCMP are still allocating some of the $17 million dollars in extra funding for policing and equipment provided in the provincial budget this year.
She says they are identifying pressing priorities and resources.
