The 2022 tourism season is well underway with communities across the province preparing for Come Home celebrations, but there’s no word yet on dates for this year’s food fishery.

Many Newfoundlanders and Labradorians living away plan their summer vacations around the dates set for the recreational cod fishery, but no dates have yet been announced for the season.

DFO says the information will be broadcast broadly once a decision on this year’s fishery is made.

Last year’s fishery ran on weekends starting July 3 and running through to the Labour Day weekend, with another week set aside in late September. –
