Rocky Harbour RCMP are warning of reported suspicious activity in the area of Cow Head.

RCMP received a call from a parent around 10:30 p.m. Thursday whose 5-year-old child told them they had been approached by a man who asked them to go for a walk with him on the beach.

The man is described as being of average build with a white or grey beard. He was said to be wearing a green jacket and beige ball cap, both of which may have had a Parks Canada log on them.

Parks Canada says there were no employees working in the area at that time, but that Parks Canada non-uniform clothing is available for purchase by the public.

Police are unable to substantiate the intention of the person in question and are asking residents to report any suspicious activity.

Parents are being reminded to speak with the their children about safety and interactions with strangers.
