The province is set to carry out a spruce budworm control program in western Newfoundland and on the Northern Peninsula.
The program will target rising populations of spruce budworms with aerial treatments on designated forest blocks. Treatment is expected to start this week between Jeffrey’s and St. John Bay.
Treatments are made up of one or more applications of a biological control product, which has been approved by Health Canada.
More information including times, locations, and maps associated with the program are available online.
