A local woman who has listed five of her vehicles on the car-sharing service Turo says she has seen an “astronomical” demand since signing up.
Turo first launched in the province just over a month ago as a way to quell issues with the ongoing rental car shortage.
According to the company, they have seen a spike in usage since launching in the province, with over 1,000 trips booked thus far.
One person seeing that demand firsthand is Jennifer Cummings.
Cummings has currently listed five cars on the platform, and with the exception of one that was very recently listed, all her vehicles are completely booked through September.
She says a lot of people have been “extremely appreciative” of what they’re offering.
She has heard from a lot of people who say that she has “saved their plans.” She has heard from people who are coming home to get married and didn’t have transportation, and people who almost cancelled their entire trip because of it.
