The Royal St. John’s Regatta will mark two special occasions with commemorative medals this year.

The medals will be designed to mark Come Home Year 2022, as well as the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

Tourism, Culture, Arts and Recreation Minister Steve Crocker made the announcement during an event at the boathouse this morning.

He says special edition Come Home Year 2022 medals will be presented this year, which will feature the Come Home Year logo.

Plans are also underway for a pondside concert on the eve of this year’s Regatta.

New oars and upgrades are also planned for the boathouse, including a mini-split heating system to reduce costs for the Regatta committee.

This year will mark the first time since the pandemic began that both races and concessions return to Quidi Vidi Lake.
