In this province it’s long been known that temperatures and weather conditions can fluctuate wildly depending on where you are.
That was clearly demonstrated in the metro region yesterday, where fog hugging the coast kept temperatures down, while clear skies and a blazing sun heated things up further inland.
Kelly Butt, a severe weather watcher with Environment Canada highlighted some of those extremes on twitter yesterday.
Mid-afternoon Thursday the temperature in the Goulds hit 25.4 degrees, while at the same time, just a few kilometres away, the temperature at Fort Amherst at the mouth of St. John’s Harbour was a chilly 8 degrees.
Butt says the cooler temperatures were thanks to onshore winds.
A HUGE temperature difference in Metro this afternoon due to an onshore flow.
