Some 70 crews are going to be dipping the oars in Quidi Vidi Lake in two weeks’ time as the Royal St. John’s Regatta gets back to pre-pandemic type events.
Derby Day did go ahead last year but without concession stands and with only a small number of spectators. This year, it’s a full-on event beginning the night before.
Noelle Thomas-Kennell, President of the Royal St. John’s Regatta Committee, says Regatta Eve will feature activities, entertainment and concessions.
She says they wanted to build on the event which has been happening organically the past few years.
Thomas-Kennell says it will be a relaxed family-friendly evening with music and entertainment. The Quidi Vidi Beer Tent will also be set up.
The gun goes off Wednesday, August 3 weather permitting.
