St. John’s Mayor Danny Breen says the city may develop bylaws to govern ride-sharing services in the capital city.
Frustration over taxi service and availability has resulted in a growing number of calls for the introduction of ride-sharing services like Uber or Lyft in the province.
Mayor Breen says they’re considering bringing in new regulations.
They discussed it with cab companies and the work is still underway. He expects once they collect the information they’re looking for from the cab industry and ride sharing companies, some draft regulations will be presented to council for approval.
