A recent study reveals that sleep patterns among Canadians are worsening, with a third of the population experiencing three or fewer nights of restful sleep per week.
This decline in sleep quality raises concerns about the potential health risks associated with poor sleep.
The study done by Narrative Research and the Logit Group says that women and younger generations reported poorer sleep quality compared to men and older generations.
While 68 per cent of Canadians manage to get four or more nights of restful sleep, 32 per cent struggle to achieve this.
Insufficient sleep can lead to increased rates of cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, mental and cognitive disorders, accidents, and injuries. Canadians are seeking solutions, with 22 per cent using prescribed medication and 38 per cent trying over-the-counter sleep aids.
The study highlights the importance of prioritizing sleep and seeking professional help if needed to improve overall health and well-being.
