Just because there are no workers or equipment in a designated construction zone, that doesn’t mean there aren’t dangers in the area.
That’s according to Construction Association CEO Jackie Manuel, who’s responding to concerns from motorists about reduced speeds and other construction signage in zones that are not active.
Manuel says people need to realize that regardless of the presence of active work being done, it is still a construction zone and there could still be dangers present.
She says the shoulder of the road could be compromised or the pavement could be stripped, and thus it would not be safe to travel through the area at regular speeds.
