Ottawa is looking to establish “green shipping corridors” between this country and other markets, and the Federal Transportation Minister believes Newfoundland and Labrador could play a big role in that.
Omar Alghabra was in Argentia Wednesday to announce funding for the expansion of the port.
He says he was recently in Japan and while there he discussed how they wish to open green shipping corridors between us and Japan, the United States, and Europe.

Alghabra calls the funding for Argentia a great example of how they are preparing our ports for climate change.
He says Newfoundland has a great geographical advantage as a conduit for trade with Europe and the rest of the world.
