Residents of the southwest coast of Newfoundland are in for another serious drenching this weekend.
Rainfall warnings remain in place, with Environment Canada still anticipating more than 100 millimetres to have fallen by Sunday evening.
The same system has caused record flooding in Nova Scotia, where at least four people — two adults and two children — are missing after separate incidents involving cars submerged in water.
More than 200 millimetres of rain has fallen in the Hammonds Plains, Bedford and Lower Sackville areas.
In this province, officials issued an advisory urging residents of the southwest coast of the island to monitor the forecast for the most up-to-date information, given the risk of localized flooding.
Municipalities and local service districts were also reminded to review emergency management plans and make sure roads, ditches and drains are clear of debris.
Motorists, meanwhile, are reminded to check NL 511 through the mobile app, nl511.ca or call 511 to get the latest on driving conditions.
More information is available on the province’s Be Prepared site.
