The Town of Grand Falls-Windsor, keeping with tradition, will put off its annual Labour Day festivities today, including the popular Labour Day Parade.
Committee member Ron Smith invited the public to take part in the parade and subsequent festivities, which commemorate over 100 years of the province’s strong labour history.
He says the town still believes in celebrating unions and its members, with the holiday being inclusive to all workers.
Smith shared that the labour movement has changed dramatically to evolve with the times, tackling issues on social and housing programs, with the role of the union expanded in the day-to-day lives of its members.
He shared that the committee aims to celebrate workers and remember what those who came before us contributed to society.
