Preparations are underway for a by-election in St. John’s in 2024.
Ward Four councilor Ian Froude vacated his seat just before Christmas, citing a lack of motivation to continue in the role and wishing to pursue other opportunities.
Mayor Danny Breen says preparations are underway for the eventual by-election, which should be sometime in March—though a date hasn’t officially been nailed down.
He says staff are getting things ready, noting that they will be using the mail-in ballot system once again.
Curler Greg Smith has announced that he will be running for the seat.
