A new satellite family care team will soon be available in the town of Bishop’s Falls.
Mayor Bryan King says the town’s lone physician retired in 2022, leaving two thirds of their residents without a family physician. Council then got together with a number of health care professionals and proposed the idea of a satellite provider to government.
King says the new clinic will be a huge asset for the town.
He says it not only provides residents with a health care provider, but it also takes some of the stress of the local emergency room, which has seen an influx in patients since the town’s clinic shut down.
The town and the health authority are holding an information session to allow residents to ask questions and get an idea of what services they’ll be able to avail of.
The meeting takes place tonight from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus.
