The Tories say all of a sudden, issues which former MHA David Brazil and others have been raising for years were addressed and promised by the government just before yesterday’s by-election in Conception Bay East-Bell Island.
Liberal Fred Hutton won the seat with Portugal Cove-St. Phillip’s town councillor Tina Neary, who represented the PCs, in second place.
Opposition Leader Tony Wakeham says government did everything it could to ensure a victory.
He says the Liberals made numerous commitments during the campaign that the opposition will be holding them to.
“Whether it was the return of the health clinic in Portugal Cove…whether it was the shore-based manager for the ferry…whether it was the school in Paradise.”
