A renowned doctor, and husband of a former St. John’s mayor, was remembered during the regular council meeting yesterday.
Dr. Frank Duff, husband of former mayor Shannie Duff, passed away on Monday at the age of 90.
Duff had a storied medical career, and was honoured last year with a lifetime membership to the Newfoundland and Labrador Medical Association.
Deputy Mayor Sheilagh O’Leary and Mayor Danny Breen both spoke of Duff, with Breen saying he has spoken with the former mayor to express the city’s condolences.
Breen says Frank was “well known” to council noting that he and Shannie were “inseparable.” He describes Duff as a top-ranked doctor who performed some of the first joint replacements in the province.
