Irving will make a fuel delivery to Bell Island today amid growing concern about the availability of fuel in the community.
The operator of the island’s only gas station had to shut the business down last week for personal reasons leading to concerns about future access to gas and fuel.
Newly sworn-in MHA Fred Hutton says he’s been in contact with the family and with Irving and says the supplier will deliver fuel to the community today.
“It’s a relief” to the residents of Bell Island says Hutton “and it’s also a relief to Norman King and the King family who have run that business for 38 years and are very proud of it.”
Hutton says arrangements have also been made to ensure that emergency vehicles and town plows and equipment are all topped up.
