Several Newfoundland and Labrador-based film and television productions, and others working in the industry, have been nominated for this year’s Canadian Screen Awards.
Four television productions, two digital media productions and one feature film received a total of 17 nominations from the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television.
The awards show will be broadcast on May 31.
The Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television is the largest non-profit professional media arts organization in Canada, including more than 4,000 emerging and established industry professionals.
The academy itself is dedicated to developing, recognizing, celebrating, and advocating for Canadian talent in the film, television and digital media sectors.
“Our film and television industry is soaring right now, and the numbers speak for themselves,” says Steve Crocker, the minister responsible for the arts in the province. “I am so proud of the attention and accolades our film and television industry is garnering. Congratulations to all nominees—on May 31, we’ll be cheering you on!”
Picture NL’s Laura Churchill says the Canadian Screen Award nominations “affirm our province’s creative prowess, highlighting the richness of our cultural contributions to the Canadian screen.”
