A rainfall warning is in effect for many areas of the province.
Environment Canada says rain, at times heavy, is expected to move in later today and stick around until Saturday evening.
Some 20-40mm, but possibly more, is in the forecast and the ground, already near saturation, has little ability to absorb further rainfall.
The Avalon, Burin and Connaigre Peninsula’s, as well as southwestern and western Newfoundland including the Great Northern Peninsula and Green Bay – White Bay are all under a rainfall warning.
Meanwhile, a Wreckhouse wind warning is also in effect for Saturday morning with southeasterly gusts up to 100 km/h.
