The provincial government is providing assistance for those affected by the fires in Lab City and Wabush.
The province is providing $500 for employed and self-employed residents of Lab City and Wabush whose income was affected by the wildfires and having to evacuate. The assistance is being provided to those who cannot access income through their employer or EI.
It follows $1,000 in one-time emergency assistance to households ordered to leave.
In the meantime, support is also being provided to small and medium-sized businesses in Lab West affected by the fires.
A one-time contribution of $1,500 is available for businesses in Lab City or Wabush with two to nine employees, while a one-time contribution of $2,500 is available for businesses with 10 to 99 employees.
Applications will be open at 12 noon on Friday, July 26 on the provincial government’s website.
