A Clarenville lawyer is raising questions about a massive piece of Crown land being set aside for North Atlantic for a proposed wind-hydrogen project that minister Andrew Parsons says will generate millions in revenue for the province.
Ted Lomond of North Atlantic says the first phase of the project has generated few, if any, concerns but lawyer Greg French told Russell Bowers on the Tim Powers Show that he is doubtful of that assessment.
“We are dealing with a very large parcel of land here,” says French. “Over 100 square km. But what really got my attention is the determination that there’s no private interests in it.”
He says “there have certainly been stories on VOCM, and CBC and in the Telegram about people who are having problems having their own private claims recognized by Crown lands, and when we’re dealing with an area this size, given a lot of the uncertainty surrounding Crown land in this province, I really do have to question how thorough and how accurate that determination might be.”
