One of the so-called “Lucky 7” crewmembers of the Elite Navigator was presented with a brand new guitar in the Premier’s Office at Confederation Building this morning.
Dave Tiller is known for providing some of the entertainment for the crew while they’re at sea.
But his guitar, and everything else on the ship, was lost last week after it caught fire and the crew had to escape in a life raft.

They drifted in thick fog for two days until they were miraculously found and rescued in waters off the northeast coast of Newfoundland.
A video taken on the boat last summer, with Tiller playing and singing Saltwater Joys, went viral as the province held its collective breath during search efforts last week.
In another video shared recently, Tiller is seen with Capt. Eugene Carter singing Joe Batt’s Arm Longliners.
Tiller was presented with his replacement guitar this morning by Premier Andrew Furey and musician Alan Doyle.
Tiller called it “an incredible moment” for him, adding “I just love it. there’s something catchy about a black guitar that I’ve always loved.”
