A long-standing senior member of the provincial Liberal cabinet has announced that he won’t be running in the next provincial election “whenever that may be.”
In a post on Facebook, Andrew Parsons says he gave the matter a lot of consideration over the last year and says he decided to make the announcement now to allow others time to consider replacing him.
Parsons was first elected in 2011, and has held a number of key portfolios including Justice, Municipal Affairs, and Industry, Energy and Technology.
He also helped his district of Burgeo-Lapoile navigate through the aftermath of Hurricane Fiona which devastated the southwest coast in September of 2022.
Parsons plans to stay on as MHA “for a while,” and offered his thanks to the people of his district for putting their trust in him.
