Applications are now open for organizations to access funding to help them deliver school lunch programs across the country.
The Prime Minister was in Rocky Harbour this week to announce a National School Food Program. Newfoundland and Labrador will be the first province in Canada to sign on to the program.
Federal Agriculture Minister Lawrence MacAulay was in the capital city today to announce funding for not-for-profit organizations to purchase the necessary infrastructure and equipment to provide school food programming.
In addition, funding is also being made available to support food security with money available to help with small scale and larger scale projects to develop things like irrigation systems and other needed infrastructure.
Applications are open starting today and will remain open until October 4th.
