The parishioners of Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church in Portugal Cove South are turning up the heat in their battle to keep the church from being sold.
The community believes the building belongs to them and cannot be sold by the archdiocese to settle abuse claims.
First they vowed to change the locks and now they’ve put a No Trespassing sign up on the main steps outside the building.
The sign reads, “No Trespassing. Property of PCS Historical Corporation and Community of Portugal Cove South.” It goes on to identify some of those not welcome on the property “Including but not limited to: Archbishop Hundt, staff of RCECSJ including real estate agents and lawyers affiliated with said persons.”
Another sign in a window says “Potential Buyers Are Not Welcome.”
