Communities across Canada are coming together to observe the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, also known as Orange Shirt Day.
This solemn day honours the survivors and victims of Canada’s residential school system, offering an opportunity for reflection, education, and reconciliation.
It comes on the heels of a report into the province’s reconciliation efforts. Justin Campbell of First Light says the province still has a long way to go.
He says it’s long past time that the province started to back up the concept of truth and reconciliation with what he calls “substantive action.”
