October is Foster Families Month, an occasion marked with an official proclamation-signing this morning in St. John’s.

Foster families are needed throughout the province, an important role that Executive Director Kelli Hodder says can be challenging, but very rewarding.

She says the purpose of Foster Families Month is two-fold – to recognize the contribution of foster families and to recruit new families into the system.

Hodder says they’re always putting the call out for new families to come on board, and they want to take the time to show appreciation to their existing foster parent who “are doing some incredibly challenging work.”

She encourages those who are interested to reach out to their office.
