RCMP in Grand Falls-Windsor have cancelled the Alert Ready notification as of 10:20pm Friday night and confirmed that residents are no longer required to shelter in place.

The advisory was issued earlier in the evening following reports of shots fired in the area between Lincoln Road, Scott Avenue, Goodyear Avenue, and Riverview Road. Police say the incident is believed to have been targeted, prompting a significant response and a public warning to remain indoors.

While the immediate threat has passed, an increased police presence remains in the area as the investigation continues.

Residents are still being asked to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to police.
