Energy NL likes the focus on oil exploration in the budget.
Government has allocated $90-million over three years to encourage investment in that sector.
Charlene Johnson, the CEO of Energy NL, says the funding will make the Newfoundland and Labrador jurisdiction more attractive, and will move us further up the list for companies planning 2026 exploration programs.
Each exploration well brings about 400 jobs with it, so Johnson sees it as a good expenditure by the province.
Energy NL was also pleased to see funds allocated for phase two of the natural gas resource assessment to help better understand the potential of that energy source in the Jeanne d’Arc Basin.
