Protesters who are not sweet on hydrogen projects handed out candy to political leaders and energy executives yesterday at the Energy NL Conference in St. John’s.
The dozen or so people, looking to get answers regarding a number of wind energy projects in the province, had a list of questions.
Industry is in St. John’s this week talking about oil, gas, hydrogen and all things energy.
Signs placed near the entrance of the Convention Centre call for accountability and oversight in energy projects, mostly concerning their effects on wildlife and environment .
Jennifer Whiteway says they’re hoping to show the conference that people are opposed to the projects.
“People are either opposed to the projects, opposed to how the projects are being handled or opposed to the lack of transparency,” she told VOCM News.
“So we just want to make sure that they’re not able to say that everyone is okay and happy with the situation. We want to give people the opportunity to come out and speak to us and hear our opinions and hopefully take them on.”
