One can make a reasonable assumption that nothing is going to change this year regarding the fees charged to transport people and cargo across the gulf but Premier John Hogan expects the Prime Minister to fulfil his campaign promise.
Mark Carney promised to reduce ferry rates between Nova Scotia and Newfoundland by at least 50 per cent, but there has been no movement on the file.
Premier Hogan broached the issue with the PM in Huntsville last week but did not press him for immediate action.
He told Carney that he looks forward to him keeping that commitment in the very near future, and that he got a positive response.
