The Crown is expressing more concern with the potential for more delays in the Tony Humby sexual violence case.
It’s already beyond the so-called Jordan deadline of 18 months, but a judge must decide who’s mostly to blame for that.
Formal Jordan arguments are set for later this month, but the informal ones began yesterday with the Crown registering its frustration over late and missing defence documents.
Both sides admit responsibility for some delays overall, but whether any of the 70-plus charges are thrown out will depend on the judge’s final calculation.
Humby, now 64, has already been implicated in the violent sexual abuse of dozens of young men and teens by his co-accused, Bruce Escott.
The 83-year-old was sentenced earlier this year to 13 years in prison.
Humby is due back in court on August 19th to ensure arguments on the Jordan application, set for the following week, are still on track.
