Police in Twillingate are asking the public for information on two separate fires in central Newfoundland this week.
It was an all-out assault on a house fire in Hillgrade Tuesday night that closed Route 340, the road to Twillingate, and consumed a community landmark, the Green Lodge.
Because of the high wildfire rating, RCMP officers from Lewisporte and Gander as well as firefighters with government, Boyd’s Cove, Twillingate and Summerford responded.
The building, which had been unoccupied for some time, was destroyed but nobody was injured.
The same night, fire erupted in Summerford in an area used for training for firefighters, consuming two vehicles.
Anyone who spots a wildfire can call 1-866-709-FIRE (3473.)
