It’s the final day of the annual VOCM Block the Bus Campaign. Today we’ll be trying to fill a Metrobus with school supplies in support of the Single Parent Association.
The campaign has been going on for just under a month in partnership with the VOCM Cares Foundation, with donations of school supplies being accepted.
Today, from 12-4 p.m., VOCM will be live from the Village Shopping Centre accepting donations.
Due to the wildfire situation, all family activities will be taking place inside the building.
Danielle Seward, executive director of SPANL, says they are accepting donations of all kinds of school supplies, but there are a few “hot commodities” they are in need of including pencil cases, highlighters, and graph paper.
She says there are hundreds of kids that have been approved to receive supplies so far.
Seward says they approved their 650th child yesterday, but there are still a couple hundred more waiting. They are hoping to knock the majority of those people off the wait list today.
