A man who has gone on deep-sea dives to the Titanic wreck site in the past believes the U.S. Coast Guard report into the Titan implosion will result in more scrutiny for companies operating submersibles.
The damning report into the 2023 tragedy concluded that OceanGate and CEO Stockton Rush found ways to evade regulatory scrutiny and operate completely outside of established protocols.
Larry Daley, a Titanic expert who dove down to the famous wreck site in 2003, believes the report will be scrutinized more in the United States but in Canada it needs to be regulated too.
Daley says everyone needs to be on the same program, and he believes that will happen, given that the activities of OceanGate “snuck in under the radar.”
