It was a good day in the fight against all three major wildfires on the island.

Cloudy conditions and high humidity helped give firefighters the upper hand in Conception Bay North with another day of no growth. Ground crews from Newfoundland and Labrador, Ontario and British Columbia were on site along with personnel from the Canadian Armed Forces and volunteers.

The Paddy’s Pond fire is categorized as under control while Martin Lake in central is being held, which means the fire is not expected to spread beyond the current boundaries.
