The results of the judicial recount in the district of Topsail-Paradise will be announced by Elections NL, not the judge, and it won’t be immediate.
The recount began Tuesday and ran until 7 p.m. last night with the work continuing this morning at Supreme Court in St. John’s.
And while Justice Fonse Faour is presiding over the process, official word will come from Elections NL.
Once final decisions are made on all 6,300 ballots, a final tally sheet will be completed and reviewed by all parties.
The judge then has two days to certify the results for the returning officer, who completes the Declaration of Election form for the winner.
Elections NL will then announce the results in a news release.
PC incumbent Paul Dinn tentatively defeated Liberal Dan Bobbett by 102 votes in Topsail-Paradise.
The judge ordered the recount based on a scrutineer’s first-hand account of inconsistencies with accepted and rejected ballots for the district.
