As the holidays draw near, not many of us will be thinking of tax preparation. But it’s something always on the mind of the Canada Revenue Agency. And in the spirit of giving, they are looking for volunteers.
The Community Volunteer Income Tax Program provides free tax clinics that help low income persons with their tax returns.
If you’re familiar with how to do your own taxes, the CRA can train you to help others get the benefits and payments that they are entitled to.
The program is actively recruiting now.
Natasha Brewer, a team leader with the CRA, says you do not have to be a tax expert to volunteer but you will have had to fill out a tax return before.
They’re looking for volunteers across the province so that those who are in need of assistance can get it right in their community or nearby.
Those interested can find more information online.
