A 31-year-old man has been charged after police were alerted to a possible drunk driver Wednesday night.
Holyrood RCMP were contacted just before 7:00 p.m. by a concerned citizen who suspected that a man driving a grey pickup was impaired.
Police found the pickup parked outside a business on the Conception Bay Highway and noticed open alcohol inside the truck as well as a gun case.
The driver, who was found nearby, showed signs of impairment and was arrested after failing a breath test.
A search of the truck resulted in the seizure of a firearm and loose ammunition.
The vehicle was seized and impounded and the driver was charged with careless use of a firearm, impaired driving and having open liquor in a vehicle.
He’s scheduled to appear in court in February.
