RCMP are investigating after a cat was apparently shot in the face on the province’s West Coast.
Newliferescue was informed of a cat with serious injuries to its face over the weekend, and a veterinarian advised them that the injury was from a gunshot wound.
The animal, who has since been named Romeo, is now receiving care in St. John’s.
The RCMP say they were called about the situation on Monday, noting that the animal did not have a collar or other identification.
Further, they say the person who initially dropped the cat off did not provide their information, only to say the animal was found in the West Bay area – which is near Stephenville.
Police are urging that person, the owner of the cat, and anyone else who may have information about what happened to come forward.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
