RCMP are welcoming convictions of two men on separate drugs and firearms charges last year.
26-year-old Asian Htoo was the first to be arrested on January 14, 2025.
Police say a search of his St. John’s home and his vehicle resulted in the seizure of fentanyl, pharmaceutical opioids, cocaine and other drugs, as well as firearms, ammunition, cash and other prohibited weapons.
On January 23rd of this year Htoo was convicted on numerous drugs and weapons charges, and sentenced to 40 months in jail. He will also have a 10-year firearm prohibition once he gets out and he has been given a DNA order.
The second person who has been convicted is 39-year-old Rodrigues Ryan. That man was arrested on January 19th, 2025 after a search of his St. John’s home turned up quantities of controlled substances including cocaine, prescription opioids and other pills, firearms, ammunition and prohibited weapons.
Ryan was convicted last Friday on numerous drugs and firearms offences. Sentenced to 49 months in prison, he has been handed a lifetime firearms ban.
